For the new Etsy
seller, the sheer number of sales some established shop owners have achieved
can be astonishing. After a month or
two, the new shop owner may feel those numbers are downright impossible for
herself or himself! In this series, I have ranked our top Potti Team sellers by
the number of sales alone, and beginning with number ten, they will share the
secrets, tips or priorities that have helped them sell their products, and
establish their stores during their time on Etsy.
#10 is
Char of CharsFavoriteThings!
Char would rank higher than tenth place if we were to rank these shop
owners by actual profit, and she has advice worth hearing!
Char sells
assemblage jewelry, which she explains is made by bringing different components
like stampings, beads, chains, and other findings together to make one piece of
jewelry.
She is obviously
very happy with her shop, because she wants all of her friends "to sell
online and quit their day jobs!"
Her secret? Char says, "I always try to treat people
the way I want to be treated. Once they
have put faith in my product by making a purchase I try to make it a really good
experience for them, from cute wrapping, to quality products and customer
service."
When asked her greatest strength in the operation of her shop, Char responded, "Customer service and organization."
Char's approach to selling has incorporated "reading all the good information available. Going to the forums and learning from seasoned sellers and team members. Looking at what seems to work for others and incorporating it into a style that works for me and my shop."
When asked what
advice she would give a new Etsy seller, Char says, "Listen to people that
have achieved success for the hints and tips that they have, always try to
treat your customers the way you would
like to be treated, no matter the situation, make sure that whatever you
create/make/sell is quality, and you feel good about selling it in your
shop."
We can all benefit
by taking to heart Char's words concerning kindness, consideration of others,
and the well-directed desire to learn.
Kudos to our Char for her stellar example of integrity and kindness and
a heart willing to listen to others. ~ Michele Davidson
